A lesbian couple in love is not what most people think of as love, says Jodi Lovings first husband.
The two women met at a party in 2009.
“It was really nice, but I didn’t know who I was going to get married to until I walked into the bedroom,” Jodi says.
“Chris was like, ‘Oh, this is my wife.
We’ll call her Sue’.” In 2009, she moved in with him, which she says was a good first step.
But as they got to know each other better, she noticed he was having a lot of affairs.
“He was trying to get a girlfriend, and I was like no, you don’t want to do that,” she says.
The pair started dating at first, but it quickly became clear that his attraction to other women was more than just a fantasy.
“I’d get up and walk down the street, and Chris would be like, and how did you know?,” she recalls.
“And I’d just be like he said it, and he would be just like, no, I didn.
And I’d be like what?
And he would say I don’t know.”
In a series of interviews, Jodi and Chris reveal their secrets to one another, from the extent of their infidelities to their relationship’s beginning and ending.
“We’re just so honest,” says Chris.
“Because that’s the only way we’re going to do it.”
Jodi, who has three children, tells her story in a series to be shown on Channel 5 on Saturday, May 30.
Chris has been married to his partner, Sue, for 20 years, but Jodi claims she never told him she was a lesbian until her ex-husband was outed by the media in the UK.
Jodi’s ex-wife has been speaking out about their affair.
“There are people out there that are like, what the hell are you talking about?” she says, adding that she believes her ex husband is bisexual.
“At the time, I was very hurt and very angry,” she adds.
“When you see someone you know is in love with someone who is not, it is hard to feel comfortable and to trust them.”
Jodi has been open about her past.
“Sometimes, it’s easier to say you’re not attracted to someone and then not tell them,” she explains.
Jodi tells Channel 5’s The Last Word on Sunday, May 31, at 10:00pm. “
But I’m not sure that’s a good way to go.”
